Jaroslava Reaiah is a Czech-born poet and visual storyteller whose work explores healing, identity, and the quiet moments that awaken the human spirit. Born in South Bohemia, she began writing poetry at the age of five in her native Czech language. What began as a way to carry emotions too heavy for childhood eventually became the foundation of her life’s work. Her Borderline Poetry trilogy — which includes her debut Not Alone and its companion I’m With You — traces a deeply personal journey from darkness into renewal. The first book moves through addiction, mental illness, and survival; the second opens into love, faith, and transformation. Together, they form an intimate portrait of resilience and the inner evolution that shapes all human beings. Alongside her writing, Jaroslava creates visual art that mirrors these themes. Her photography and paintings are known for a signature black-white palette with symbolic red, reflecting the emotional tension, honesty, and clarity found throughout her poetry. Each medium informs the other, creating a multi-dimensional expression of her inner world.
Jaroslava now lives in Columbus, Georgia, where she continues her sober, creative life with her two children, Daisy and David. She returns to the Czech Republic whenever she can to reconnect with her family, roots, and the landscape that first taught her to see the world
through a poet’s eyes. She is currently developing the third book in her trilogy, Together, and expanding her body of visual work — all guided by the same question at the heart of her art: What does it
mean to become whole?
Writing down words—
They come to me in light,
A small, all-knowing channel
Opening
When the timing is right. They drift through me,
Soft and unowned—
I don’t make them,
I just Put them down. Somewhere far away,
In quiet galaxies, Little rhymes
Are waiting, Already written,
Just trying To be found.
My work explores identity, space, and memory in the everyday and extraordinary.
